With «The Fools» we bring a second piece by one the world’s most in-demand choreographers to the Schauspielhaus stage. The Israeli-born choreographer, who lives in the UK, Hofesh Shechter has been acclaimed around the world for his intense choreographic works and atmospheric scores. His high-energy dance piece «Violet Kid» was performed by our ballet ensemble in the 2015/2016 season and was joyously received by audience and critics alike. «The Fools» is a dance piece that is no less pulsating. It is a story of survival in a world full of dark shadows: intense, powerful and once again highly energetic. 

THIS IS EVERYTHING 

«this is everything» by newcomer Bryan Arias is the energetic opposite of the evening’s first piece. It is a work of calm that communicates a candid intimacy in which the choreographer searches for those rare moments when we are entirely ourselves. In a flexible and playful manner Arias teases out fears and desires, the past and the future in a poetic and formal manner.  This young artist comes from Puerto Rico, lives in New York and now works worldwide. He has danced with a number of international companies, won a series of awards and has worked for the Juilliard School New York, Hubbard Street Dance and Nederlands Dans Theater, among others. «this is everything» is his introduction to audiences in Basel.
